Swifts

Filters

Swifts usually arrive in the UK in early May, bringing with them incredible aerial displays. However, Swift numbers here are dwindling, so much so that these adept flyers are now on the UK Red list.

Whilst the reasons for their decline are complex, there are two very simple things we can do to help this special species: by providing them with nesting sites and ensuring they have plenty of insects available to feed on.

Putting up a Swift nest box, planting some wildflower seeds or adding a pond to your garden are brilliant ways to give Swifts the shelter and food they so desperately need in order to thrive.
