Product description
Give bats the perfect place to roost with this high-quality double chamber bat nesting box.
Made in the UK from durable, FSC® certified timber, the bat box provides great insulation for roosting bats. The wood contains a high proportion of natural resins, which help to protect it.
The box features two different-sized vertical chambers, which suit a range of UK bat species and allow bats to regulate their temperature for different activities and conditions.
Please note that bats are a protected species and it is an offence to knowingly disturb an active roost without a license.
- Features ladder-style grooves for bats to climb easily into their chamber of choice.
- Measures approximately 19.5cm (W) x 45cm (L) x 15.5cm (D) (including lid)/10cm (D) (excluding lid).
- Weighs approximately 2.5kg
- advice
- Please site at least 4-5 metres high on a wall or mature tree, or high under the eaves of a house.
- Putting up multiple boxes facing different directions is helpful for bats as they can choose the most appropriate temperature based on their needs.
- For secure and stable fixing, there is a hanging tab attached to the back of the box at the top, and a hole at the bottom. Screws are not supplied.
- Once installed, the box will require no maintenance. Bat roosts cannot be legally disturbed without a licence.
- Please note: Bats are a Schedule 1 protected species under the Wildlife & Countryside Act, therefore it is illegal for any member of the public to disturb a roost, handle or kill any bat. Bat boxes, therefore, must only be inspected by licensed bat workers. However, you can monitor your bat box without disturbing its occupants. Look for mouse-sized droppings beneath the box as a clue to occupation or observe from a distance at dusk to see if bats are exiting the box to hunt.
